Graphic Design is a Wide Umbrella
As Time has gone on, I’ve come to know that Graphic design is as much about learning as it is about making. As such my graphic design portfolio is a book showing a variety of skills from typesetting, layout, illustration and image editing.
UNWSP Counseling Department
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the counseling department at the University of Northwestern–St. Paul Counseling Department. The department was in need of new resources to help connect with students. I put together a poster, Brochure and a small branding guide for them.
South Suburban Church
I have had the privilege of making some creative assets for South Suburban Church in Apple Valley. The primary work I have been doing for them is creating artwork for the various sermon series that they do. The illustrations are original, being made with a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Clip Studio Paint
UNWSP Social Media Iconography
During my time as a student worker at University of Northwestern–St. Paul Marketing and Communication, I was tasked with a project to create new icons for the university to use on it’s social media. The icons also needed to be usable in other contexts, so the goal was to make them somewhat universal. Pictured here is the icon’s both on dark and light backgrounds, as well as them in use on the UNWSP social media account.
Kind Lips Brand Book
Recently I have done some design work for an organic lip balm company called Kind Lips®. Much of the work has been updates to packaging and labels, but I also redesigned the business’s brand book so that future creative projects could be more streamlined.
Paul Renner Poster
I designed an informational poster about the German typographer Paul Renner. Renner is most famous for inventing the widely used ‘Futura’ typeface. For this poster I took inspiration from the Bauhaus style.
Additional UNWSP Work
Here are two more samples of work that I did for the University of Northwestern–St. Paul. First we have an advertisement that was printed in a magazine for the summer camp Camp Lebanon.
Second is a page that I created for the universities alumni magazine Pilot. The subject was a family that has had many generations attend the insitution.
T-shirt for Henderson’s
First Baptist Church.
I was contracted to create a new event t-shirt for Henderson’s First Baptist Church in Kentucky. I was provided with the globe logo and title to start with. We decided to combine it with their church’s established date. The stained glass line art on the back that the tagline is set within is reminiscent of an actual window within the church building.
UNWSP Homecoming
Honoree Dinner Program
During Homecoming at The University of Northwestern–St. Paul, the Advancement department hosts a dinner for the Homecoming Honorees. I was tasked with redesigning the program for that years dinner. While I was given the previous years file to start with, the work was much more than a fresh coat of paint. Sticking with brand guidelines, my goal was to make the new program easy to read and understand for the alumni who would be viewing the document. Here is the finished product in spreads.
